US-based carrier Virgin Mobile has just announced the immediate availability of the long-awaited Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean update for Samsung Galaxy S II.

According to Samsung, Jelly Bean 4.1.2 software version GB28 for Galaxy S II is only available via Samsung Kies desktop software.

The update brings lots of new features and introduces a new Google search experience on Android. In addition, new services such as Google Now, Android Beam and Voice Search will be included as well.

Keep in mind that Samsung has also confirmed that this Jelly Bean upgrade will reduce the total storage of the Galaxy S II by 1GB, which means that users should be left with only 11GB of free internal memory.

Make sure the phone’s battery is fully charged and back up all your sensitive data before attempting to update the smartphone. More details on how to download and install this update are available here.
