Sony Mobile has got new firmware approved for its Xperia T and Xperia TX devices, namely version 9.1.A.0.489, which is reportedly based on the Android Jelly Bean operating system.

The new software has emerged over at the PTCRB, and might suggest that the company is moving closer to the release of Android 4.1.2 for its smartphones.

As juggly.cn notes in a recent post, the new firmware has been approved for Xperia T (LT30p, LT30at) and for Xperia TX (LT29i) models.

For the time being, no specific details on when the new platform release will start arriving on devices have been provided, but Sony Mobile did say not too long ago that it was planning on starting the delivery in late February or early March.

With Sony nearing the final stages in the development process of the update, more info on the matter should emerge soon.
