The person everybody talks about has talked... a little.

There are not many things Jeff Gertsmann can say at the moment, because of some "legal reasons" but he can still say some things and give the audience some hints (which are, of course, subject to personal opinion). So he spoke about his last review for Gamespot, the Kane and Lynch one, and about his plans for the future, Joystiq.com reports.

"Losing a job you've held for over 11 years in an abrupt manner is shocking, yes," declared Gertsmann, unable to comment his actual reasons of his departure because of some "legal reasons" and the "respect for the product team still on board at GameSpot, who are some of the most amazing people I've ever met."

However, he had a little chat with Joystick and made some things clear. First of all and maybe one of the most important things to be known, he declared that he still stands behind his negative review of Kane and Lynch: Dead Men: "I stand behind my work, regardless of where I do it. If there was content that I felt I couldn't support, it wouldn't see the light of day", Gertsmann said.

Along that, though he did not comment specifically about what happened to his review (the text review has been edited and the video one - removed), he declared that he supports the idea of an editing process: "If factual errors are made, I have no problem owning up to that error, correcting it, noting that a correction has been made, and feeling like an idiot for making the mistake in the first place". But he had no time to be told about the changes, since he was already gone.

If you are reading this, it means that you followed the entire story and know about some rumors regarding Gerstmann's review who, a few said, hadn't played the game enough. Jeff denied the rumor, adding that: "For the record, I saw both endings in Kane & Lynch before writing about it." So, as always, this guy knew what he was talking about.

Asked about his future plans, he said that he currently keeps his options open and isn't totally sure what will he do next: "This whole situation has left me with a lot to think about. While this sort of clean break would be an acceptable time to think about trying game development, I feel like I still have more to say and do on the editorial side of the fence, too."

And the story continues...
