‘80s action star Jean Claude Van Damme has suffered a heart attack on the set of his latest film, “Weapon.” It was described as “minor” and the actor has been released from hospital.

Reports say that JCVD left Romania after shooting for the film and flew to New Orleans for 3 days to shoot some scenes. Production on the film was supposedly suddenly halted.

Until just recently, it was not known what could have stopped production on the film, but, as Twitch Film has learned, it turns out it was the star’s health.

“Just one day after his fiftieth birthday reports are surfacing that Belgian action hero Jean Claude Van Damme has had a heart attack on the set of his latest film, Weapon,” Twitch Film writes.

“The film moved from its Romanian production base last week to do three days of shooting in New Orleans, where production was stalled due to unexplained ‘complications’,” the e-zine says.

Only later did it emerge that the “complications” had to do with Van Damme’s health, since he’d suffered a minor heart attack on set.

“Word has now gotten out that those complications involved Van Damme having what appears to be a minor heart attack before shooting any of his scenes,” Twitch Film writes.

As of now, it seems fans have no reason to worry, since the actor has been admitted to a hospital and is recovering just fine. Still, official confirmation on this is pending.

“He was admitted to hospital in New Orleans briefly before being released and returning to Belgium,” the aforementioned e-zine reports.

“His wife and mother of two of his children, Gladys Portugues, joined him in New Orleans following the event and it now appears that he will make a full recovery,” Twitch Film says.

While Van Damme’s publicist seems nowhere to be found, fans are taking to the dedicated forums to wish him well and hope for the best to come their way soon as regards the actor’s health.
