14 DAY TRIAL // Faced with a never-before-seen storm from the paparazzi after the video of an elevator fight between Jay Z and Solange Knowles, Beyonce and her rapper husband were forced to make a statement in which they addressed all of the rumors that their marriage is on the verge of collapse.
TMZ has obtained the official statement in which both Solange and Jay Z acknowledge the fact that they are responsible for the attack.
“Jay and Solange each assume their share of responsibility for what has occurred. They both acknowledge their role in this private matter that has played out in the public. They both have apologized to each other and we have moved forward as a united family,” reads the statement, which doesn't address the biggest question in the first place – why they fought.
Solange would just like you to know that she wasn't drunk at the time she lashed out at Jay Z in the elevator of the Standard hotel in New York, nor was she acting erratically. “The reports of Solange being intoxicated or displaying erratic behavior throughout that evening are simply false. At the end of the day families have problems and we're no different.”
It turns out that even the rich and famous have family problems and every once in a while they blow they top. The good news is that Solange and Jay Z have found it in their hearts to get over the issue and come together in loving harmony. Or so they would like you to think.
“We love each other and above all we are family. We've put this behind us and hope everyone else will do the same,” continues the statement, basically saying to people to let this drop. That sort of makes you want to find out even more what caused the vicious attack which saw Jay Z getting punched and kicked, and he probably would have been left much worse for wear, were it not for the presence of his bodyguard.
The statement also fails to address the issue of Beyonce and Jay Z's crumbling marriage. Reports soon after the video leaked indicated that Beyonce was in the process of removing her tattoo of her wedding ring. Let's also not forget that Solange deleted all of the photos with her and Beyonce from her Instagram the day after the attack, while her sister posted a cryptic message begging aid from God to overcome problems in her life.
One thing is for sure: the image of the ideal couple and marriage that Beyonce and Jay Z have been putting up all this time has got some serious cracks to it and it's going to take a lot of PR work to fix them.
