14 DAY TRIAL // There was much speculation in the months prior to the event that Jay Z and Beyonce didn't plan on attending Kim Kardashian's wedding to Kanye West, despite the fact that they were among the first invited. Now, the Daily Mail is saying that they will attend but only as a social obligation.
The newspaper reports that Jay Z has been named as best man at the wedding, thus forcing his hand to attend the ceremony, something which Beyonce is reported to have been keen on avoiding because of the publicity.
Jay Z and Kanye are good friend and they go back, which is why Kanye decided that Jay Z will stand by him at the altar on his wedding day. Plus, he must have figured that having a famous music producer like Jay at the wedding couldn't hurt his reputation at all.
A source close to the family said “Beyoncé had to think about it at the last minute, she didn't really want to go, but I think Jay Z's the best man, so he's kind of making her go...” Their aversion to attend the wedding was because they thought that the cameras would be rolling to film for E!'s Keeping Up with the Kardashians reality show, but now that Kim has confirmed there isn't going to be any shooting, they've reluctantly agreed to come.
The same source confirmed that the wedding would take place at the Belvedere Fort in Naples, and that there were 150 guests invited in total, which for Kim and Kanye was a small wedding compared to what they had planned originally.
Now that Jay and Bey have been confirmed for the wedding, it's going to be interesting to watch how things work out because fashion designer Rachel Roy is also going to be making an appearance at the festivities. Roy is believed to be the real reason why Jay and Solange, Beyonce's sister, had a physical scuffle in an elevator in New York.
Solange thought that Jay was getting really friendly with the fashion designer, which is why she lashed out at him. She later apologized about the incident, and Jay Z took his hare of the blame for the fight, but that doesn't mean that there isn't going to be any tension there. Let's just hope that Kim and Kanye were smart enough to separate their tables.
Apart from Jay Z and Beyonce, the wedding list is said to include John Legend and his model wife Chrissy Teigen, and Kim's friends Brittny Gastineau, LaLa Anthony and Larsa Pippen.
