Just as the dust had started to settle on reports that Jay Z and Beyonce’s marriage was either a sham or one foot in the grave and that divorce was imminent, here’s another story that could potentially ruin things between the two.

A 21-year-old man and aspiring rapper from New Jersey is taking Jay Z to court over claims that he is his real father, and more importantly, that he’s been trying to keep it a secret for years, including by lying to a court in a previous related case.

Rymir Satterthwaite is Jay Z’s son from a ‘90s relationship

Long before Jay Z met and fell in love with Beyonce, whom he would later marry and have a baby with, he reportedly romanced a woman named Wanda. That was back in the ‘90s, when he was still living in New Jersey, where he allegedly owns about 3 houses now.

The result of said romance was Rymir Satterthwaite, who is 21 now and is asking through a legal guardian for a court to force the rapper to submit himself to a paternity test, Radar Online reports, citing the print issue of The National Enquirer.

Rymir, who is also an aspiring rapper, filed the documents in court late last year, but it’s just now that word of this gets out online.

He claims that Jay, his alleged father, has been trying to block him from finding out the truth for a few years now, as his mother, Wanda, had previously tried to get him to take a paternity test in 2010. At the time, Jay and his attorney lied to the court, saying he’d never lived in New Jersey and thus could not have had a relationship with Wanda.

The case was thrown out but is now used by Rymir as “proof” that Jay lied to the court to get out of the paternity test, which could only mean that he knows he’s the real father.

Jay Z and his many illegitimate kids

Rymir wouldn’t be the first illegitimate child to come out of the woodwork and sue Jay Z, and he will probably not be the last. Just like Jay Z isn’t the first or last celebrity to have this happen to them: fame, especially other people’s fame, tends to get people… confused.

Rumors online have it that, in 2011, the rapper paid Shenelle Scott about $1 million (€878,885) in an out-of-court settlement that would keep his name off the birth certificate of his then-13-year-old son.

Other reports claimed that Jay also fathered a baby with a French woman, but she was never identified in the press.

That’s not to say that Rymir’s most recent claims are unfounded, because the court will decide that. But it’s no secret that celebrities tend to attract all types of unsavory attention, including lawsuits from people they never had anything to do with, who come forward with unbelievable stories thinking they would be their meal ticket.
