14 DAY TRIAL // The famous couple Jay Z and Beyonce might very well be older than you've been thinking, making them suspect of conforming to one of the most dangerous and condemned trends in Hollywood – shaving years off your official age.
The rumor that Jay is actually older than he looks and claims to be is not new, it's been floating around and following him ever since he made his big break in music, but now it's coming back in a big way, thanks to radio host and culture critic Troi Torain.
On his radio show called Star, the host disclosed that Jay Z was actually 50, when his official records would indicate he was much younger than that, having him pegged at 44. He said while on air, “I shouldn't blow this up, maybe because he doesn't promote it publicly, but Jay-Z and I are the same age,” and then added, “I will be 50 on May 3. He's 43, 42... that's just media made.”
The news was picked up by the International Business Times, that now claims that Beyonce, his wife, is also a bit older than it's being speculated in the media. Good Morning America host Bianna Golodryga was the first to point the finger in her case, as she revealed that she went to high school with the singer.
That would make her 35 instead of 32, and also 15 years younger than her husband. If for women it's more widely accepted to shave years off their age just because the media is fascinated with youth and shuns on older people, for men like Jay Z lying about their age is not something you'd expect.
The only reason why Jay Z would choose to claim to be younger was that, thus, there wasn't such a big age gap between him and his younger wife. If Jay Z is indeed 50 and Beyonce remains to her official age of 32, then there is a whopping 18-year difference between the two.
The truth behind the new accusations made by Torain may never be fully revealed, but what is known is that the radio DJ often makes outrageous and controversial claims on the air.
Regardless of their true age, both Jay and Beyonce are still enjoying massive success in the charts, as well as in their personal life, where they pose as a happy family with their daughter Blue Ivy, while touring the world, doing the concerts together and even hitting up the White House for special occasions.
