While a few months ago rumor had it that the Oscar-winning actress was considering hitting the record studio to make a pop album, nothing came out of the one. But, in real life, Gwyneth can carry a tune and she proved that during a live performance by rapper Jay Z.
Paltrow's husband, Chris Martin from Coldplay, is known to have worked with the hip-hop mogul on his latest album, 'Kingdom Come', out in stores in November. Fans gathered for a sold-out concert at the prestigious Royal Albert Hall on Wednesday suspected that Martin would be joining their idol on stage, but little did they suspect that his wife would do the same, too.
After Chris performed an untitled song from Jay Z's forthcoming album and 'Heart of the City (Ain't No Love)' from the multi-platinum selling 'The Blueprint', the crowd was amazed to see a blonde woman get up on the stage and sing with the chorus.
While people where still wondering 'Who is that chick that's in the spotlight?', the rapper took the mike and made the introduction: 'I want people to wish a happy birthday to my good friend Gwyneth Paltrow'. After hearing her sing the backup for 'Song Cry', everybody present deemed her vocal skills 'excellent'.
'She was a bit nervous but her performance was really excellent. It was an historic event. It was amazing', 1Xtra DJ G Money, who turned the tables for the rapper on this occasion, told BBC.
