14 DAY TRIAL // Beyonce has been going out of her way (without appearing to do so) to shoot down rumors of a split between her and husband Jay Z, which have been making the rounds since that Solange elevator beatdown video emerged online, but things at home aren’t as great as she would have you believe.
In fact, a new report in Page Six says, they’re pretty much done. The only reason they’re not filing the divorce papers just yet, even though they’ve been separated for some time, is because they’re on tour together and they’re supposed to be a couple throughout it.
That is to say, once the On the Run Tour wraps, they will be taking all the necessary legal steps to move on with their life apart. Meanwhile, an insider tells the tab, Jay is desperately trying everything in his power to see if the marriage can still be saved.
Admittedly, he should be the one to make the most effort, since whatever problems they’re having now, they’re having them because of the things he did. It is widely believed that Solange physically attacked him in that elevator after a MET Gala 2014 party because she found out he had been cheating on Beyonce, her sister – and she confronted him about it.
Since then, things have been really bad for Bey and Jay at home but, because they had agreed to do the tour, they couldn’t announce their separation to the world, not if they didn’t want to lose millions.
“They are trying to figure out a way to split without divorcing ... This is a huge concert tour and they’ve already gotten most of the money from the promoters up front,” the insider explains.
They obviously don’t want to pay all those millions back by making the split official and canceling the tour so, for the time being, they’re stuck together. Obviously, a tour centered on their life as a couple would not make sense if they were in the middle of a split. However, this will be their last tour as a couple because, right after it wraps, they will be divorcing.
“There are no rings, if you haven’t noticed,” the insider says. “For just a split moment, things got real for them and she was even talking about adding to the family. But, after a while, Jay was out doing Jay and Bey was out doing Bey. They made the classic mistake of thinking a child would change everything and help to rekindle the initial fire, and it didn’t.”
Beyonce and Jay Z have been together for 12 years and have a daughter named Blue Ivy. Divorce rumors have plagued them since day 1, but they were never as persistent as they’ve been since the Solange incident.
