The wearable maker will launch the products soon

Fitbit just launched three new fitness trackers, so its direct competitors are trying not to waste time and spurt out something new as well.

It’s the case of Jawbone which, according to a report coming from Venture Beat, is on track to roll out a pair of new fitness trackers, both riddled with a slew of sensors.

One of the two products will be a low-priced fitness bracelet, while the second will be sleeker and taking advantage of fancier things such as a heartbeat sensor.

Jawbone to launch two new fitness devices

This information is corroborated by another report, which also names the two upcoming products. One of them is the MOVE which will sell for just $50 / €40 while the UP3 will arrive packed with new sensors and with a $180 / €144 price tag.

The UP3 will arrive to complete the company’s lineup of fitness trackers, which already includes the UP and UP24.

However, people familiar with the matter say that the UP3 won’t come with the extra features right from the get-go. But customers are bound to be impressed by the “sleek black design.”

As we mentioned above, Fitbit already announced three new fitness wearables not so long ago and two of them bundle a heartbeat monitor. So Jawbone is feeling the pressure of having to add more advanced features into its pretty-expensive products.

Jawbone is forced to offer more for less

As the wearable market grows and more products get launched, stuff like a heartbeat monitor – which helps the gizmo determine things like sleep quality or calories burned – will become pretty mainstream.

You shouldn’t find it surprising that Jawbone has managed to lower the price of its MOVE fitness tracker down to $50 / €40. The truth is that simple fitness trackers are not that expensive to manufacture. And we have some relevant examples of that.

The most telling is Xiaomi’s Mi Band which is sold for only $13 / €10. The wearable is a plastic-made band that can be worn around the wrist. It incorporates a vibrating alarm feature and can track the amount of steps you have taken while running or walking. Furthermore, it monitors your sleep cycle.

But there’s something extra to the whole story: using the Mi Band you’ll be able to unlock our Xiaomi phone by virtue of using the smartband.

Jawbone’s new devices are reportedly going to be announced sometime later this week, so keep checking back with us to get the full coverage of what’s new and hot in the world of wearables.
