“The Mechanic” sequel is happening, you'll be glad to find out, and Jason Statham has already agreed to reprise his role as an undercover assassin called Arthur Bishop. However, the good news isn't the fact that there's a sequel to the movie being made.

The good news, coming from The Hollywood Reporter, is that the sequel could be helmed by German director Dennis Gansel. You might not know Gansel, but he's one of the best directors the country has to offer when it comes mainstream films.

His previous work includes “Before the Fall,” “The Wave” and the terrorist thriller “The Fourth State” and he has so far been reluctant to work outside his native Germany. He is the reason why people have high hopes for this sequel.

The first “Mechanic” film was directed by Simon West, who also worked on “The Expendables 2,” and at the moment it's unclear whether he'll be involved in the production of the sequel.
