Japanese Robot Avatar Controlled with Gloves and Visor

Remote-controlled technology was bound to eventually lead to real-life robotic avatars that allow you to transfer your consciousness into a different body.

Granted, the Telesar V doesn't exactly go so far, but it does have the technological equivalent of sight, hearing and touch.

A team of Japanese researchers have made it possible to strap on a visor and a pair of gloves and use them to control the robot.

Also, wearers will hear, see and even feel what the Telesar V is going through, hence the comparison to the movie Avatar.

The gloves meant to be worn by the human controlling the robot are lined with semiconductors and small motors that relay heat and texture.

Don't fire up those rockets, though. Rather than exploration of outer space, the Telesar V is meant to be used for exploring hazardous areas, like the ones affected by the earthquake and nuclear disaster of last year.
