Pizza Hut Japan decided to promote its golden crust pizza with actual gold slices, giving eight lucky customers pieces that put together will form a precious pizza. As a special holiday treat, every customer ordering from the famous restaurant will have the chance to win a necklace worth a few thousand dollars.

The period for the contestants to register for golden slice is between Christmas and New Year’s and the only condition is to order food worth $43 (€31.5), while the eight prizes are each estimated around $770 (€563).

The actual gold necklaces have pendants shaped like slices, and when brought together they form one small shiny pizza, notes Rocket News.

After ordering, participants will be selected by a lottery draw, and even if they most probably do not know each other, they will forever be connected by their golden pizza slices.

The promotion is meant to stimulate pizza consumption during the holidays, when most people enjoy family meals. With the chance of winning a golden necklace, Pizza Hut is hoping to attract attention on their online delivery services as well.

The amount set to enter the competition may be a bit high, at least for one or two people, but with all the holiday reunions, hosting a party and serving pizza is getting people close enough to the targeted amount.

Instead of slaving in the kitchen cooking for guests, Pizza Hut recommends ordering food and getting the chance to win a beautiful pizza-slice-shaped accessory.

One of the world's most famous pizza places has taken the golden pizza meaning to a new level, of actual gold, not edible but still appealing.

Some might say the idea could be quite cheesy, but it is actually a well-branded promotion, by eating pizza customers will be rewarded with an adornment of one of the things they really enjoy.
