Monster Hunter 4 has no rival in the software department

The Wii U home console from Nintendo and the PlayStation Vita handheld from Sony have dropped to new lows in terms of sales on the Japanese market for the week that ended on October 6, as the 3DS from Nintendo continues to top the chart.

The device has managed to sell 122,987 units in one week, which is a decline of about 12,000 units over the previous tracked period.

The PlayStation 3 stays just above the 10,000 mark in second place, while the older PSP is a little over 4,000, according to Media Create figures from NeoGAF.

The Wii U has only managed to move 4,001 devices to gamers, while the Vita did even worse with 3,538.

Monster Hunter 4 from Capcom continues to be the best-selling video game for the week, with sales of 140,538.

The rest of the top ten includes: Warriors Orochi 3: Ultimate, Armored Core: Verdict Day, The Legend Of Heroes: Sen no Kiseki, The Legend Of Heroes: Sen no Kiseki on Vita, Friend Collection: New Life, Youkai Watch, Animal Crossing: New Leaf, Warriors Orochi 3: Ultimate and The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD.
