The Nintendo made Wii U home console has managed to sell more than 100,000 units on the Japanese market for the first time after more than six months, which might point to a resurgence of the device next year.

The hardware has managed to move 109,113 units to customers in a retail environment where it is not competing with the Xbox One from Microsoft or the PlayStation 4 from Sony.
