In Japan the long reign of the Nintendo 3DS at the top of the hardware video game chart has been ended by the PlayStation Vita, which has managed to drop lower sales than its rivals in order to get to number one for the week that ended on April 13.

The Vita handheld has managed to sell 25,298 units, which is only a slight decline over the previously tracked week, while the 3DS has seen a solid decrease, going from 32,038 to just 23,562.

The solid performance of the Sony handheld is linked to the launch of 3rd Super Robot Wars Z: Jigoku-Hen, according to NeoGAF.

The PlayStation 4 home console has seen its own sales stay mostly flat at a little over 13,000 and it is performing better than the PS3 and the Wii U, which has dropped to a new low and reached 5,512.

3rd Super Robot Wars Z: Jigoku-Hen for the PS3 was the best-selling title of the week in Japan, managing to deliver 132,442 copies to fans.

The rest of the top ten includes: 3rd Super Robot Wars Z: Jigoku-Hen for the Vita, Yo-kai Watch, Mario Party: Island Tour, Crayon Shin-Chan: Arashi o Yobu Kasukabe Eiga Stars!, Mato Kurenai Yuugekitai: Tokyo Twilight Ghosthunters, Samurai Warriors 4, Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes, Titalfall and Mato Kurenai Yuugekitai: Tokyo Twilight Ghosthunters.
