The Nintendo 3DS handheld has managed to once again come out on top on the Japanese market, according to the weekly sales charts compiled by tracking firm Media Create, with the new Ace Combat: Assault Horizon leading the video game top ten.

The Nintendo 3DS has sold 55,026 units during the week that ended on October 16, which is just a little more than it has managed during the previous seven day interval, despite the fact that it has not seen any big video game launches.

Second place went to the PlayStation 3 home gaming console from Sony, which moved 28,596 units to gamers, with the PlayStation Portable handheld taking the last position on the podium, with sales of 25,271.

The Nintendo Wii had one of its good weeks on the Japanese market, which at the moment means selling more than 10,000 units, while the normal DS line is continuing to decrease its numbers.

The Xbox 360 has managed to just outsell the PlayStation 2, 1,887 devices to 1,280.

The new release from Namco Bandai, Ace Combat: Assault Horizon for the PS3, has been the best selling video game of the week, with 149,470 copies sold since launch, despite the fact that the game has abandoned its traditional style and is aiming to become Call of Duty set among the clouds.

Second place in the Japanese video game chart went to Just Dance for the Nintendo Wii, which managed to move 90,039 units while third place was taken by Konami with World Soccer Winning Eleven 2012, with sales of 61,787.

The rest of the top ten includes: AKB1/48: Idol to Guam de Koishitara from Bandai Namco, Forza Motorsport 4 from Microsoft Game Studios, Ace Combat: Assault Horizon for the Xbox 360, Dead Rising 2: Off the Record from Capcom, Class of Heroes Final: Shinnyusei wa Ohimesama from Acquire, Rhythm Heaven from Nintendo and Dragon Quest 25th Anniversary.
