The newly launched PlayStation 4 has managed to take the number one position in the hardware chart for the Japanese market, while Knack, one of the launch titles that Sony has delivered, is dominating the software top ten.

The next-gen home console has managed to move 309,304 units to gamers for the week that spanned from February 17 to 23, which is a solid performance, considering that the device was only available starting in the penultimate day of the tracked period.

Second place in the hardware chart, according to Media Create figures quoted by NeoGAF, belongs to the 3DS handheld from Nintendo, which has created sales of 32,151, a decline over both the previous week and the same period of 2013.

The PlayStation Vita has seen its own sales figures stay essentially flat at about 18,240, the PS3 has managed to deliver 9,983 units, while the Wii U is seeing a small decline at 8,407.

Knack is the somewhat surprising leader of the video game chart, but its position is mostly due to the fact that it was bundled with the PlayStation 4 on launch.

Second place belongs to the PS3 version of Yakuza: Ishin! From SEGA, with sales of 138,158, while the PS4 launch has managed to also deliver 82,540 copies to gamers.

The rest of the top ten includes: Dragon Quest Monsters 2: Iru to Ruka no Fushigi na Fushigi na Kagi, Kuroko's Basketball: Miracle Victory, Yo-kai Watch, Killzone: Shadow Fall, Battlefield 4, Kirby Triple Deluxe and Puzzle & Dragons Z.
