Handhelds continue to dominate the hardware market

The 3DS handheld from Nintendo is once again the best-selling piece of hardware on the Japanese market, and the device has managed to deliver 38,445 units to players during the week that ended on July 27, an increase over the previously tracked period.

The PlayStation Vita from Sony continues to stay in second place, but it has seen a decline in its own numbers, going from 29,601 to 23,642.

Third place on the podium belongs to the Wii U, which continues to improve after a less than impressive year, going to 9,429 units sold coming from 8,209, according to Media Create figures cited by NeoGAF.

The PlayStation 4 is continuing to decline after a few solid months and has managed to sell only 5,581 devices, which is a decline over the 6,456 it managed during the previous week and less than the older PS3 has managed during the same period.

The Xbox 360 sold just 122 units as Microsoft prepares the launch of the Xbox One.

Yo-kai Watch 2: Ganso / Honke from Level 5 for the 3DS has taken the number one position in the video game chart, with sales of 180,880 copies.

The rest of the top ten includes: Yoshi's New Island, Mario Kart 8, Oreshika: Tainted Bloodlines, Tokyo Shinseiroku: Operation Abyss, Corpse Party: Blood Drive, Yo-kai Watch, Under Night In-Birth Exe:Late, Taiko no Tatsujin: Don to Katsu no Jikuu Daibouken, and Atelier Shallie: Alchemist of the Dusk Sea.
