The launch of the new Pikmin 3 title on the Japanese market has allowed Nintendo to claim the number one position in the software chart while also significantly boosting the sales numbers of the Wii U home console.

The 3DS LL continues to be the best-selling piece of hardware, moving 29,594 units to gamers in one week, a small increase according to data from Gematsu.

The Wii U saw a jump from 8,251 to 22,199 in just seven days, an impressive feat that might signal a revival for the console, which has failed to meet its sales targets.

The PlayStation Vita has seen a small decline but is still performing better than the PS3.

The rest of the video game top ten includes: Yokai Watch, Earth Defense Force 2025, Tomodachi Collection: New Life, New Super Luigi U, Toukiden for the PSV, Toukiden for the PSP, Dead Island: Riptide, Metal Gear Solid: The Legacy Collection and Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D.
