The PlayStation Portable handheld from Sony has again sold better than the Nintendo 3DS from Nintendo just as Yakuza: Off the End has managed to dominate the video game charts for the week that ended on June 12, according to data on the Japanese market provided by the tracking firm Media Create.
The PSP has managed to sell 26,681 units during one week, lower than the 30,155 posted during the previous week while the
Nintendo device, which is much newer, has seen sales of 24,649, also down about 3,000 units over the previous seven-day period.
Third place in the hardware chart has been again conquered by the PlayStation 3 from Sony, which saw an increase in its sales going from 16,510 to 17,104 devices sold.
The Nintendo Wii took fourth place with sales that have crept up a little but have again stayed under the 10,000 units sold mark.
The DSi LL version of the Nintendo handheld has sold 5,283 units during the week with the DSi version just under it.
The PSP Go has sold just 62 units while the DS lite has managed to sell 146.
SEGA's newly released
Yakuza: Off the End, the video game that combines traditional gangster action with a zombie invasion, has managed to take the number one spot in the Japanese software chart, managing to move 298,717 copies, which is more than the rest of the top twenty when taken together.
Second place in the chart went to Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D from Capcom for the Nintendo 3DS which has managed to sell 58,792 copies after spending last week in first place, but the game failed to have a positive effect on the hardware on which it runs.
Battle & Get! Pokemon Typing DS Pokemon Co has taken third place with sales of 11,421 units.
The rest of the chart includes: Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker 2 – Professional, One Piece: Unlimited Cruise SP, Gekiatsu!! Pachi Game Tamashi Portable Vol. 1: CR Evangelion - Shinjitsu no Tsubasa, Wii Party, Akiba's Trip, Red Faction: Armageddon and Patapon 3.
