Time might move on inexorable towards the end of 2011 but the Japanese hardware chart seems to remain mostly unchanged regardless of the major shifts that take place in the video games top ten, as reported by tracking firm Media Create.

For the week that ended on November 27 the Nintendo 3DS has seen another boost in sales, reaching 120,920 units sold in one week, which is a significant improvement over the 96,219 console sold during the previous interval.

The PlayStation 3 has managed to get the jump on its handheld cousin and occupy second place on the podium, with sales of 34,031, which are down about 10,000 units when compared to last week.

The PSP is slowing down, perhaps as more players are getting ready to shift to the new Vita handheld in a few weeks, and has posted sales of 33,151, coming down from a little over 40,000.

The Nintendo Wii has also seen a solid boost in sales, reaching over 20,000 for the first time in months, coming from 13,613, while the DS line is also increasing sales, although they are shadowed by those of the 3DS.

The Xbox 360 has once again managed to outsell the PlayStation 2.

When it comes to the Japanese video game chart, the big news is that The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword, from Nintendo and for the Wii, has managed to take the number one position in just four days on store shelves, with sales of 194,978 units.

Second place has gone to another new entry, 7th Dragon 2010 from SEGA, for the PlayStation Portable, which sold 122,498 copies in its first week, and third place has been occupied by Saint Seya: Sanctuary Battle, another new entry from D3 Publisher for the PlayStation 3, with sales of 66,557.

The rest of the top ten is made up of: Super Mario 3D Land, Metal Gear Solid HD Edition, Little Battlers eXperience: Boost, Weiss Schwarz Portable: Boost Weiss, Uta no Prince-Sama: Music, Taiko Drum Master Wii: Definitive Edition! and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3.
