The Nintendo 3DS handheld has had yet another very good week on the Japanese market, as shown by the sales figures compiled by tracking firm Media Create, which also show that an anime powered Macross F Sayonara no Tsubasa has topped the software charts.

For the week which ended on October 23 the Nintendo platform has managed to sell 73,933 units, which is quite a bit more than the 55,025 that it has managed during the previous seven day period, with the most likely culprit for the increase being the introduction of a new version of the device, with a pink finish.

Second place in the hardware chart went to the PlayStation 3 home console from Sony, which is heading in the opposite direction from the 3DS, with sales going from 28,596 units to 23,897, while the PlayStation Portable handheld is continuing to occupy the final space on the podium, with sales of just over 22,000, down more than 3,000.

The Nintendo Wii seems to have stabilized its weekly sales numbers a little over 11,000 while the DSi XL is still selling more units than the Xbox 360 from Microsoft, the PlayStation 2, and the other DS versions.

Macross F Sayonara no Tsubasa, from Namco Bandai for the PlayStation 3, has sold 142,607 copies during its first week on sale, capitalizing on its anime roots, while Naruto Narutimate Impact , also from Namco Bandai and for the PSP, has managed to move 53,148 units during its first week.

Third place in the Japanese video game chart was also captured by Namco Bandai, which gets a rare hat-trick, with the Nintendo Wii based Go Vacation, which sold 47,209 copies.

The rest of the top ten is made up of: Just Dance, Dead Island (a new entry), FIFA 12, PES 2012, Ace Combat Assault Horizon, AKB1/48 If I Loved an Idol in Guam and Dead Island for the Xbox 360.
