Two very attractive bundles

The console war is a very tough fight in which the top three manufacturers, Nintendo, Microsoft, and Sony, battle against each other by using any means necessary in order to ensure a bigger profit and to make their own products more attractive in the eyes of the consumers.

Except for the price cut, a sure-fire way is to create limited editions of your console and bundle them with titles that have been eagerly anticipated by gamers for quite some time. Thus, you ensure that the games sell well, which is good for the publisher, and that people without a video game machine can buy one full package that has a more attractive price.

This is seemingly the strategy for Japanese console producer Sony, which has just unveiled two new bundles for its PlayStation 3 console. The first one consists of a very special white PS3, which is decorated with gray dragons.

This product will be bundled with the Yakuza 3 game, which is set to appear on February 26. The package will go on sale on the same day, and will be priced at 45,980 yens, equivalent to 490 dollars. Furthermore, along with the white and gray PS3 and a Yakuza 3 copy, players will get their hands on another white DualShock 3 controller.

The second bundle, one which will surely make a lot of European and North American residents jealous, is a limited edition black PS3 that is decorated with a matte tri-cell logo. If this doesn't ring a bell, the Biohazard logotype on the side will, as this is the Japanese name of the famous Resident Evil horror survival franchise.

The 80 GB PS3 will be packaged with the latest iteration in Capcom's extremely popular series of video games, that is to say Resident Evil 5, and will also feature two DualShock 3 controllers for enthusiasts to play the title's co-op mode. It is slated to go on sale on March 5, for the price of 48,980 yens, or 525 dollars.

After becoming acquainted with such very attractive bundles, one does wonder why doesn't Sony also offer them to other territories. It would certainly attract a lot of users and would give the PS3 a strong boost in sales, in order to get back into the console race. Let's hope that the Japanese company indeed has plans in store for the packages outside its native country.
