Nintendo has experienced some huge sales ever since it released its Wii and DS consoles. Both of them have broken records and have been met with huge demand from fans of the Japanese hardware manufacturer.

But now things aren't going as they used to, with the Wii losing ground to its arch rivals, the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, and the DSi has a formidable opponent in the form of the brand new PSP Go! Don't worry though, as Nintendo is beginning to deploy the big guns for both of the consoles and has announced two new colors, one for the Wii and the other for the DSi.

Japan will soon receive a black Wii, the first color change for the console ever since its release. Even though it was teased at that time in a lot of new colors, including Red, Silver, Lime, Green or Black, it has only been available in White, in all territories. Set to be launched on August 1, it will go on sale for 25,000 yen or 258 dollars, and will be accompanied by matching accessories like the black Wii Remote, a black Nunchuk and a black classic controller pro. A special bundle will also be unveiled at that time, with the black Wii getting packaged with Capcom's Monster Hunter Tri, the latest in the very successful video game series, all for just 33,000 yen or 341 dollars.

As regards the DSi, the red version will go on sale on July 11, for 18,900 yen or 195 dollars. This will be the sixth color model Nintendo has released in the country, which enjoys the largest palette of versions for the handheld. At the same time, Square Enix's Dragon Quest IX will be released for the console, making the new color that much more attractive.

Sadly for European or North American users, the Japanese company hasn't revealed any plans to bring these new colors to other territories except its native country. Until we know more though, we can just pretend that our Wii or DSi sports  any other hue than its standard one.
