The hardware chart in Japan is for the second week in a row dominated by the Nintendo DSi LL version of the handheld, which is still seeing the effects of a recent price cut introduced by the hardware company. Meanwhile the software chart is seeing significant changes with new entries taking on four of the top five spots. Last week also marked the date when both the Nintendo DS and the PlayStation Portable, both handhelds, managed to sell more than one million units in the Land of the Rising Sun.

The DSi LL platform managed to sell about 32,661 units, which is down by almost a quarter when compared to the 41,676 sold during the previous week. Meanwhile the PlayStation Portable has seen a small bump in sales, reaching 24,685 coming from 23,257. Meanwhile the better placed home console is the Nintendo made Wii, which currently sits on 21,964, also an increase from 19,115. Fourth place went to the PlayStation 3 from Sony, which reached sales of 20,077, with the DSi in fifth place with 18,271 units moved to gamers. The Xbox 360 has managed to sell better than the DS Lite, the PS3 and the PSP Go, but it seems that the launch of a new model cannot sustain sales over the long term.

Inazuma Eleven 3: Sekai e no Chousen, a title developed by Level 5 for the Nintendo DS managed to sell 505,161 units in its first week using two versions, one called Spark and another Bomber. Second place went to Taiko no Tatsujin DS: Dororon! Youkai Daikessen, another new entry, also for the DS handheld with sales of 69,767. The PlayStation 3 version of BlzBlue: Continuum Shift from Arc System Works is in third place, with sales of 49,871 copies while Super Mario Galaxy 2 managed to bounce back to fourth place with 34,645 units moved to players. Digimon Story: Lost Evolution, from Namco Bandai, is in fifth place.
