The Nintendo 3DS is topping the hardware sales chart on the Japanese market with some help from Dragon Quest Monsters 2: Iru to Ruka no Fushigi na Fushigi na Kagi, which has debuted at number one in the software top ten.

The Nintendo-made handheld has delivered 48,308 units to gamers for the week that ended on February 9, which is a significant increase over the 37,462 of the previous seven days.

Second place is occupied by the Vita from Sony, which has seen a decline in its own numbers, a situation that also confronts the PlayStation 3, the home console that sits in the final position of the podium.

The Wii U has continued to slip, going from 8,072 devices sold to just 7,180, according to NeoGAF.

Dragon Quest Monsters 2: Iru to Ruka no Fushigi na Fushigi na Kagi from Square Enix has managed to move 443,656 copies to gamers during its debut week.

The rest of the top ten includes: Puyo Puyo Tetris, Mobile Suit Gundam Extreme Vs. Full Boost, Yo-kai Watch, Kirby Triple Deluxe, Puzzle & Dragons Z, Terraria, Super Heroine Chronicle, Diablo III and Pokemon X / Y.
