Remember Panasonic’s beast 20-inch 4K tablet? Maybe you’d like something a little less massive, something that’s still able to capture the aura of mobility?

If so, hold that thought. Japan Display has just announced that it managed to squeeze in the amazing resolution of 3840 x 2160 pixels into a 12.1-inch TFT panel. Pretty impressive.

Japan Display or – better said – Sony, Hitachi and Toshiba all brought their expertise together in order to achieve such an impressive feat. The 12.1-inch panel boasts an amazing 365ppi pixel density.

Not so long ago, we saw Japan Display pull the veil off a 7-inch display aimed at tablets, featuring a pixel density of 432 ppi.

The display was showcased at the FPD International Exhibition 2013 in Japan, with the mention that the display remains power efficient and is reasonably thin as well. The panel will be able to supply 500 nits of brightness.
