The 3DS LL handheld from Nintendo manages to once again take the top position in the hardware chart for the Japanese market, as compiled by Media Create, just as the newly launched Bravely Default: Flying Fairy has topped the video game chart.

The Nintendo 3DS LL has sold 52,079 units during the week that ended on October 15, which is significantly better than the 39,046 that it managed during the previous seven-day period.

The normal version of the device, which has a smaller screen and battery, also managed to see an increase in its own sales numbers, going from 24,623 to 27,221.

The PlayStation 3 has returned to its familiar third position in Japan but still managed to sell a respectable 26,312 home consoles, which is far from the chart-topping 42,218 it managed to move during the previous week.

The PlayStation Portable handheld from Sony is down week over week, moving 15,585 devices to gamers, which is a decline of about 2,000, while the newer Vita continues to slide and only sold 6,134 devices, a decline from 7,957.

The Nintendo Wii continues to see a downward spiral as the Wii U is getting closer to its Japan launch date of December 8 while the Xbox 360 from Microsoft has another good week, staying ahead of the PS2 and the older DSi range.

Bravely Default: Flying Fairy, the 3DS game from Square Enix, is the bestselling game of the week in Japan, moving 141,529 copies to players, while second place belonged to Resident Evil 6 from Capcom on the PlayStation 3, which sold another 92,921 units.

The last place on the podium is occupied by Project X Zone from Namco Bandai, with sales just over the 50,000 units mark.

The rest of the top ten is made up of: World Soccer: Winning Eleven 2012, Toki to Towa, New Super Mario Bros. 2, Wagamama Fashion Girls Mode, Run For Money: Flee From the Strongest Hunters in History, Rocksmith and Diabolik Lovers.
