The 3DS is once again the best-selling video game console on the Japanese market, during a week that has seen both handhelds available get a big boost in their sales.

The Nintendo-made device has increased in numbers from 27,338 during the previous tracked period to close to 62,000 units, while the second-placed PlayStation Vita from Sony has reached 40,710 coming from 20,655, according to Media Create data quoted by NeoGAF.

For the week that ended on July 13, the last position on the hardware podium is occupied by the Nintendo-created Wii U home console, which has delivered 8,658 units to its own fan base, a decline when compared to the previous week.

The PlayStation 4 might be a next-gen console, but its performance is disappointing and sales have declined again to reach 7,150, which is lower than those of the PS3.

The best-selling video game for the week is Yo-kai Watch 2: Ganso for the 3DS, which has managed to deliver 1,316,7070 copies to gamers during its launch week.

The rest of the top ten is made up of: Freedom Wars, Yo-kai Watch, Mario Kart 8, Taiko no Tatsujin: Don to Katsu no Jikuu Daibouken, Watch Dogs, Pokemon Art Academy, Grand Theft Auto V, Watch Dogs for PS4 and Pokemon X / Y.
