The eyes of the gaming world might be on Gamescon in Germany, but the Japanese market is an important one and it seems that handhelds are at the moment more attractive than home consoles.

The Nintendo-made 3DS has seen an increase in sales from 57,837 to 71,731, while the PlayStation Vita from Sony has managed to post a similar bump from 15,755 to 21,842, for the week that ended on August 18.

The PlayStation 3 has also seen a slight increase and even the Wii U from Nintendo is over the 10,000 units sold mark.

Disney Magic Castle: My Happy Life continues to lead in the video game chart, with over 41,000 copies moved to gamers, according to NeoGAF.

The rest of the top ten includes: Mario & Luigi: Dream Team, Friend Collection: New Life, Animal Crossing: New Leaf, One Piece: Romance Dawn, Youkai Watch, Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney – Dual Destinies, Pikmin 3, Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon and Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D.
