Both the 3DS and the PlayStation Vita managed to sell better on the Japanese market than the recently launched PlayStation 4 next-gen device from Sony for the week that ended on March 16 just as Dark Souls 2 took the number one position in the software space.

According to NeoGAF, which quoted data from Media Create, the Nintendo handheld has managed to move 34,144 units to gamers, which is a slight decline compared to the previous tracked period, while the Vita has delivered 29,717 devices to its fans.

The PlayStation 4 continues to lose Steam three weeks after it was launched in Japan, selling 29,677 units, which puts it ahead of the PlayStation 3, which managed 14,128, the Wii U, which continues its decline, and the Xbox 360.

Dark Souls 2 for the PlayStation 3 is the best-selling video game in Japan, with 255,197 copies delivered to players in less than one full week.

The rest of the top ten includes: Yo-kai Watch, Dragon Quest Monsters 2: Iru to Ruka no Fushigi na Fushigi na Kagi, Soul Sacrifice Δ, Harvest Moon: Linking The New World, Fossil Fighters: Infinite Gear, Kirby Triple Deluxe, Pokemon X & Y, Yakuza: Ishin! and Grand Theft Auto V.
