The Nintendo 3DS handheld has continued its strong run on the Japanese market, according to information compiled by chart tracking firm Media Create, while a new Final Fantasy game has managed to top the video game top ten.

For the week which ended on October 30 the 3DS has managed to sell 65,041 devices, which is a direct result of the price cut from earlier this year, which is more than twice the 30,605 units sold by the PlayStation Portable from Sony.

It will be interesting to see how the 3DS will manage against the new Vita platform, which launched on December 17 in Japan.

The PlayStation 3 home gaming console has again taken third spot in the hardware chart, selling 25,217 console during the seven day period, which is significantly better than the Nintendo Wii, which seems to have stabilized its sales just above the 11,000 mark.

The older DSi XL sold better than the Xbox 360, which managed to outperform the still alive PlayStation 2 and the DSi.

Final Fantasy Type-0, from publisher Square Enix and for the PSP, has managed to have a very good first week on the Japanese market and has sold no less than 472,253 copies, suggesting that the long running series still has life left despite the issues with the MMO Final Fantasy XIV and the disappointment linked to Final Fantasy XIII.

A new Kirby game for the Nintendo Wii has also had a good first week, moving 136,811 units to players, while the last place on the podium was taken by Idolmaster 2 for the PS3, with sales of 65,512.

The rest of the top ten is made up of: Just Dance, Go Vacation, Disgaea 4 Fuka & Desco-hen Hajimemashita, Ro-Kyu-Bu, Macross F Sayonara no Tsubasa Hybrid Pack, Terror of the Stratus and Ragnarok Hikari to Yami no.
