Janice Dickinson has spent a fortune on plastic surgery and the results of all these interventions are anything but natural (or desirable, depending on who you ask), but getting her on a reality show about plastic surgery has proved to be a winning choice for E!. Botched premiered over the weekend to impressive ratings.

The first episode also included Dickinson among the cases Dr. Paul Nassif and Dr. Terry Dubrow tried to help with reconstructive surgery. Nassif and Dubrow have already been featured on two of Bravo’s Real Housewives series, but this is the first project they can call entirely their own.

The show was announced last month and, apparently, people are always game for a series that delves deep into other people’s misery because the ratings gave E! a new boost, The Hollywood Reporter informs. Botched was the network’s best Sunday launch in a year.

“In total 1.2 million viewers tuned in to the episode, with 805,000 of them adults 18-49. That's up roughly 60 percent from last week's Tuesday sampling. The last time E! approached those numbers with a Sunday debut was Total Divas last July,” THR says.

“The show also is performing well online. The Botched premiere thus far has drawn 324,000 unique viewers to its website, the most for a premiere week in three years,” adds the same media outlet.

Previews for the episode available online offer a hint as to why it was such a hit with audiences: Janice might be a long way from her modeling heyday but, boy, she can surely bring on the drama.

For starters, she was on the show because she’d had her breast implants in for 30 years, when no specialist would recommend waiting more than 15 years to have them replaced. Most do so at each 10-year interval.

Janice’s “excuse” is that, since Sylvester Stallone paid for her first pair of breasts, she saw no reason not to keep them, despite the nasty-looking ripples and a couple of lumps on the side of one breast.

Secondly, as this video over at the Daily Mail confirms, Janice lied about the procedures she’d had done and her medical history: Dr. Dubrow even says that she’s a very unreliable patient because of it.

As if that weren’t bad enough, Janice is also a drug addict, which further complicates things for the doctor: if she’s administered the wrong kind of pain medication, she might relapse or she might not react to it at all.

In the end, things did turn out OK for Janice or, as she likes to call herself, the world’s first supermodel. She was so happy with her new implants that she even did a photoshoot to show them off in all their glory (yes, that means exactly what you think it means: topless) and, of course, the cameras were there to capture it all.

So, now that Botched has been confirmed a winner, let us know: did you watch it? If so, did you like it enough to tune in again for another episode?
