It’s often being said that, as a celebrity who is constantly in the spotlight, a woman is either too skinny or not skinny enough, and that nothing she does regarding her weight will ever please everybody. Janet Jackson is certainly not a stranger to this, her weight oscillating through the years from a full figure to slim and excessively toned, with a very enviable and well-defined six pack. Her book on diet and emotional eating will explain all this, as she tells Harper’s Bazaar.

Janet can go up and down in dress sizes depending on what’s going on in her personal life, the singer reveals in an exclusive interview for the aforementioned magazine. She became an emotional eater when she was still young and would be left behind at home while her brothers would go on tour. She has taken this habit of trying to find comfort and escape in eating when upset to adulthood, and this is precisely the kind of relationship that she’ll explore in “True You,” her upcoming diet and self-esteem book.

“It was originally about weight loss. But I wanted it to be more about my triggers. I can be an emotional eater. Of late, I have been doing that, yes. It started when I was very little. My brothers were gone on tour a lot, and I would miss them so much. Certain things in my life would become triggers. I wish I’d had a book like this when I was that young. People forget that everyone has things going on. It’s still important to face reality, and not that I’m running, but sometimes you just need to get away for a second.” Janet tells the magazine of how she came to consider writing the book.

She doesn’t offer more details on “True You” and doesn’t mention a release date or anything. Janet is now, as all fans must know, again on the curvy side, the time she has spent out of the spotlight being divided between mourning Michael’s death and pursuing her acting career. However, a few extra pounds don't mean she’s still not as fashionable as always, despite claiming that, deep down inside, she always considered herself more of a tomboy than a stylish lady.

“I love shoulder pads, a nipped waist. Since I was 16, I used to shop at Maxfield in L.A. I loved Thierry Mugler, Gaultier...” Janet tells Harper’s Bazaar. As of late, she’s become a fan of Roland Mouret and Alexander McQueen. She also adores shoes, so much so that she just had a dedicated room built for her many pairs, “Louboutin, YSL, Alaïa, and Giuseppe Zanotti.”
