Singer says the focus is not on losing weight but on staying healthy

In what can be easily considered the most surprising partnership in recent months, singer Janet Jackson has teamed up with Nutrisystem, in a bid to help others shed the extra weight and get back to good health.

To publicize her latest endorsement deal, Janet was on Good Morning America hours ago to speak of her lifelong weight struggle, as the video below will confirm.

Janet, who has never made a secret of her low self-esteem issues and yo-yo-ing weight, is determined to get back on track and, if possible, also help others do the same.

This way, the partnership with Nutrisystem was born, one that doesn't focus on weight loss but rather on eating healthy and staying in top shape.

Speaking with GMA's Juju Chang, Janet explains how she came to be the face of the weight loss program, a decision that, no doubt, surprised many of her fans.

“It’s a matter of learning how to keep it off, that’s maintenance and they have a program for that. My success plan is to be healthy and feel good about me,” she says.

Because her focus is health, she also refrains from telling Chang specific numbers, like how much she weighed before she went on the program, how many pounds she's already lost and which her ideal weight is.

Either way, whichever the answer to the questions above is, Janet looks gorgeous: she's clearly happy and she's definitely slimmer.

She also says that her confidence has improved as well and that, unlike years ago, she is now able to look at herself in the mirror – and she even likes what she sees, she says with a smile.

In the same interview, and on a separate note from the Nutrisystem endorsement deal, Janet also talks about the Conrad Murray trial and how she believes justice was finally served for her brother's death, and about Paris Jackson's plans for a career in showbiz.
