For all you Janet lovers out there, here's a little something to make your... well, not your day... more like your year! Just a few days ago, I was telling you all about a little sexy spread Janet did for Prestige magazine and I was kind of skeptical, wondering where Miss Jackson's career was going and when exactly we were going to see her doing what she knows best - singing and dancing. Well, we didn't have to wait long for the answer to that question, because Janet's new video for her comeback single Feedback is here - and it's sophisticated and surrealistic. In short, any fetishist's dream, with the added bonus of seeing Janet rock some pretty amazing, tight-fitting costumes and work some equally amazing dance routines. Whether you like the song or not, this video is taking things to a whole new level - and it looks like Miss Jackson really is back to her slim, toned and fabulous-looking self.
It's amazing how much a video can do for a single that, in my humble opinion, is not altogether Janet's best effort to date. I mean yes, it's a dynamic up-tempo beat, but I'm not very comfortable with the synthesizers and her electronically processed voice and the whole "sexy, sexy, sexy" vocal backing - but the video is, as I was telling you, a different thing altogether. It starts off with a latex-clad Janet wriggling in lascivious poses on what looks like a little planet of her own, looking pretty much like a respectable Bond girl, with a rather out-of-this world haircut that shows off some pretty impressive bangs and a long pony-tail to match, which Janet puts to good use in her later dance routines. Next thing you know, Janet and her dancers are whisked away and end up dropping on a milky-white surface in a scene reminiscent of Britney's "Oops I Did It Again" (but without too much backdrop) and start strutting their stuff big time. This is the point where all the hard-core Janet fans can breathe a sigh of relief: the energetic, toned and fit lady really IS back, and doing a very good job of it.
The video gets even more surrealistic when the white surface on which Janet and her pack were dancing starts turning fluid and suddenly looks like the surface of a bowl of milk, into which they all plunge fearlessly, and out of which Janet re-emerges wearing a red catsuit (again, a la Britney) and does a solo dance routine while juggling with some fluorescent orbs that could symbolize anything from tennis balls that went through a nuclear power plant to alien light bulbs. It all ends on this mysterious note, and we can all breathe a sigh of relief: there was no exposed nipple in sight (in fact, Janet showed rather too little skin if you ask me) and it all works out nicely. You can watch the clip below - and because I'm feeling generous today, here is a link to a more documented and way funnier review on Janet's new video, which I'm sure you'll enjoy very much.
