A few days ago, shortly after Arnold Schwarzenegger announced he’d fathered a child with a former housekeeper / assistant, Jane Seymour stated she knew for a fact he had at least two other illegitimate children. She’s now backpedalling on those comments.

The actress was on The View the other day and, among other things, she also wanted to discuss about the comments she made in reference to Arnold’s personal life, comments that made headlines around the world.

Check out the video at the end of the article for highlights from the interview.

For starters, she insists, her intention was never to discuss about the former Governor’s personal life: she was at a movie premiere and she was taken by surprise with a question about the Schwarzenegger scandal.

Secondly, had she known her words would spark this kind of reaction and such media frenzy, she would have never said anything in the first place because she didn’t deliberately set out to hurt Arnold and his wife Maria.

“I am so beyond sorry and appalled that I found myself even talking on the subject at all,” Seymour says, adding that she was somewhat tricked into answering the question, in the sense that she didn’t expect it.

“I just feel so badly for Maria and the children because I’ve been through similar kinds of stuff,” the actress added. She never meant to add more to the family’s pain.

Seymour doesn’t say whether she also reached out to Arnold and Maria to say these things in person, but she stresses on The View that she hopes they will accept her apology.

“From what I gather, I think there will be lots of information coming people’s way. I heard about two more [out of wedlock kids] somebody else knows about. I even met someone who knows them well,” Seymour initially said when asked about what she made of the Schwarzenegger cheating scandal.

Said scandal began shortly after Arnold and Maria announced they had separated and were considering ending their 25-year marriage with a divorce.

Schwarzenegger then issued a statement to admit to an extra-marital affair that resulted in the birth of a boy. His illegitimate son is now 13 years old, and was born one week apart from another son he has with Maria.
