Some would put an Emmy award behind the glass or up on a shelf for all house guests to see and wonder, but not Jamie Oliver. As a new video shows, he’s found a new use for the statuette.

As we also reported, the British celebrity chef scooped up his first Emmy statuette for Outstanding Reality Program with his “Food Revolution,” which debuted in the US last year.

In his typical manner, Oliver made a video about what he plans on doing with the award and, as the Daily Mail can confirm, it’s far from what we might expect.

Instead of having it on display, Jamie plans on putting the statuette to good use, since it can work as a double-bladed knife, a garlic crusher or simply as a futuristic fruit bowl.

The video opens with Jamie cutting cucumbers with one of the wings on the golden award and – truth be told now – it does seem to do the job just wonderfully.

“I’ve got this beautiful new kitchen gadget, it’s brilliant!” Jamie says grinning into the camera, before moving on to detail the many ways in which he can use the Emmy in the kitchen.

“I’ve got a double bladed knife, a balloon whisk here, I’ve even got a garlic crusher and it works brilliantly, I’ve got a bottle opener here, it’s everything I’ve ever ever dreamed of,” the chef says.

On a more serious tone, though, Jamie thanks all his fans and supporters and, above all, the staff that made his Emmy win possible. It’s good to work together for a cause, he says.

“In all seriousness, this is a beautiful pat on the back for me, and I’d like to thank all of the crew, we had the most astounding crew, both English and American that absolutely lived The Food Revolution and contributed over and above what they were asked to do, they were incredible,” Jamie says.

After his thankyou speech, the chef returns to presenting the many advantages the statuette presents in the kitchen, such as that of a futuristic, original-looking fruit bowl.

“It’s above and beyond a fruit bowl, look at that, it looks good, it’s contemporary, you can sit it on table, you can put a candle in it, it’s just great,” he says as he’s decorating the Emmy with whatever fruit comes to his hand.
