Toxicology tests haven’t been performed yet, so COD has not been announced

Actor James Gandolfini passed away a few days ago in Italy, aged just 51. Initial reports say that he died of a suspected heart attack, with a doctor at the hospital he was taken to now saying there is no evidence of drugs or alcohol.

However, TMZ points out, no official cause of death has been announced at the present moment.

Still, Professor Claudio Modini, the chief ER doctor at the hospital where the actor was taken, launches the theory that the actor died of natural causes, even though he had a history of alcohol and drug abuse.

“Professor Claudio Modini, the chief ER doc, says it looks like a heart attack, adding it was ‘probably a natural cause of death, myocardial infarction’,” the celebrity publication writes.

“Gandolfini had acknowledged he had been addicted to cocaine and booze, and substance abuse played a part in his 2002 divorce,” adds the same media outlet.

In other words, until toxicology results come back (assuming tests will be conducted), there’s no way of telling if the “Sopranos” star died of natural causes or not.
