Fans of James Franco will soon get more access into his personal life with a documentary from first-time director Lisa Vangellow, The Wrap confirms. “Franco: A Documentary” is now in early editing stages, says the trade publication.

The documentary started shooting in June 2013 and, apparently, “will focus on Franco's controversial exploits in academia and the art world, as well as touch on his conventional film career and Broadway debut.”

“Vangellow, who also produced the documentary, had access to Franco's family and close friends. Seth Rogen and Klaus Biesenbach, curator of New York's Museum of Modern Art, are just two of the names expected to appear in the film, according to individuals familiar with the production,” The Wrap says.

In recent weeks, Franco has been making headlines for other things besides his professional achievements, like how he tried to pick up a teen girl on Instagram and a series of rude selfies he posted on the same social networking platform.

Whether the film will also tackle these issues (and perhaps explain them better than Franco recently did, when he said they were nothing short of art statements), still remains to be seen.

Right now, there is no estimated release date for the documentary, but there is some buzz online that this could actually turn out to be a faux documentary, like Joaquin Phoenix also did with “I’m Still Here,” which showed him taking time off from acting to pursue an ill-fated career in rap music.
