Moviegoers can often be heard complaining that they feel cheated about paying the premium ticket for a movie that was post-converted to 3D because it was of poor quality. James Cameron feels the same: Hollywood is overusing 3D.

In a new interview with Vulture, the “Avatar” director says that many movie studios push for 3D when there’s no obvious reason they should, save for their greediness, which knows no bounds.

Of course, every movie buff out there already knew this but, somehow, hearing it from Cameron proves we’re not the only ones thinking it.

“I do not think Hollywood is using the 3D properly. The reason I say that Hollywood is not doing well is because it is automatic… [It's] one thing [to shoot] in 3D and another to convert to 3D,” he says.

“[The studios are trying] to make money, […] pushing 3D to directors who are not comfortable or do not like 3D… Man of Steel, Iron Man 3 and all those movies should not necessarily be in 3D. If you spend $150 million [€117.2 million] on visual effects, the film is already going to be spectacular, perfect,” he adds.

I can’t say I don’t agree with him on “Man of Steel” and “Iron Man 3.” The 3D did feel unnecessary in most places. Do you think the same?
