Now promoting the Blu-ray release of “Titanic,” which comes shortly after the 3D theatrical re-release, director James Cameron is also talking about “Avatar” and its sequels, how he made “Titanic” into the biggest selling movie of all times and, last but not least, why Jack had to die at the end of it.

Check out the video below to see his latest interview, and make sure you stick around until the end for the answer to that question.

As fans must know, at the end of “Titanic,” Jack (DiCaprio) puts Rose (Winslet) on a raft and thus saves her life.

If you’re wondering why he didn’t get up on it as well, and thus not perish frozen, Cameron says he’s working with Myth Busters to explain how that move would have killed them both.

It’s not a question of whether there was room for both on the raft, but of buoyancy, he says.
