After the Oscar-winning South African 'Tsotsi', director Gavin Hood is preparing for a follow-up, set in Cairo this time. Oscar-winning actors Jake Gyllenhaal ('Brokeback Mountain') and Reese Witherspoon ('Legally Blonde', 'Walk the Line') are already in talks with New Line Cinema to take on the leading parts.

The plot revolves around a CIA analyst, headquartered in Cairo, who sees his entire world crumble apart after he witnesses a secret interrogation of a foreign national by the Egyptian police. The man whom the police had in custody was an Egyptian-born American, a chemical engineer, shipped back to his parents' native country on charges of political crimes and terrorist acts.

Reese Witherspoon, no longer typecast as the blonde with lawyer-like skills, will play the part of Isabella El-Ibrahim, the pregnant wife of the chemical engineer, who comes to Cairo to look for her husband.

Based on a script by Kelly Sane, the project will be produced by Steve Golin and executive produced by Toby Emmerich, Keith Redmon and Michael Sugar. Shooting will begin in late November and it will take place in more than one location. Until now, Los Angeles, Washington, Morocco and South Africa have been announced as the most used locations for the shoot.
