Actor Jake Gyllenhaal is trying on a different look: he shaved his head clean, as photos now circulating online prove. Fans shouldn’t fret, though, because he’s doing it for a movie role.
Us Magazine confirms that Jake will soon start working on a cop drama – and the new ‘do is down to the part he’s playing in it.
While shooting doesn’t begin for a while, Jake had to go bald sooner than that, as he and his co-star posed for promo shots for the film the other week.
“There’s a lot of buzz surrounding Jake Gyllenhaal’s new movie role,” Us notes, adding that most of the buzz is down to the fact that photos have emerged online, of Jake looking breezier on top.
“After all, the 30-year-old actor shaved his head for End of Watch, a police drama costarring Michael Pena. Though filming doesn’t begin until July, Gyllenhaal and Pena, 35, shot promos for the movie in LA last week,” Us informs.
Fans must know that this is not the first time that Jake ditches his trademark ‘do for a movie role either.
“This isn’t the first time Gyllenhaal has lost his locks for a role; in 2005, he shaved his head to play Marine Anthony Swofford in Jarhead,” Us says.
Come to think of it, shaving his head is not Jake’s biggest transformation for a movie role either: he gained a lot of muscle mass for “Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time,” for instance, pushing his body to the limit.
Other actors, on the other hand, lose weight for the parts they play – as was the case of Christian Bale for his Oscar-winning role in “The Fighter.”
We were
telling you some time ago that Bale spoke out against movie critics who called his physical transformations “gimmicks” meant to attract attention.
“To be honest, I find it laughable that it’s considered to be some [expletive]-ing gimmick – it’s so patronizing,” Bale said, adding that it was not easy and definitely not too much fun having to drop so much weight.
If the part requires it, though, there’s nothing one can do but lose the weight.
“So it’s just what you end up having to do. Somebody told me that somebody wrote something about my ‘trademark weight loss’. I’d just like to [expletive] on that guy’s shoes,” the actor added.
