There are many downsides to fame and never having enough privacy is probably one of the biggest. Jake Gyllenhaal got to experience that on his own at SXSW festival, when a fan tried to snap a picture of him while he was in the men’s restroom.
As we also informed you yesterday, initial reports said that Jake, who is in Austin at SXSW to promote his latest film “Source Code,” was pictured by an over-zealous fan in one of the most private moments known to man.
In other words, the star was in the urinal doing, well, his thing. He noticed that the fan had taken his picture and told him off, slamming him against the wall.
Later reports said that Jake didn’t actually touch the fan, saying the latter understood his mistake almost instantly and apologized.
As Jake himself says in a brand new interview for Entertainment Weekly, he did get into a scuffle and he did have a heated argument with the fan.
“That’s true,” Jake says laughing, when EW asks him whether he got into a scuffle with a man in a restroom because he wanted to take picture.
“I think it’s an appropriate space to keep privacy. I hope that people wouldn’t disagree with me on that,” the actor adds.
In the same interview, Jake also speaks of “Source Code,” the film for which he went to Austin for SXSW, and whose trailer you can see embedded at the end of the article.
Working with director Duncan Jones was a must, or else Jake wouldn’t have accepted the part, he reveals.
“The movie was not anything I wanted to make unless it was with someone who was a real visionary. And humor too. Duncan has a great sense of humor – dirty and dark and great,” Gyllenhaal explains.
“I think the great thing about sci fi is there’s a little bit of a campy quality always. I don’t think anybody should take themselves too seriously in time continuum,” he adds.
