Another jailbreak guide is available for owners of an iPhone or iPod touch enjoying the benefits of a hacked device. Posted by Phat^Trance over at Daily Mobile, the video tutorial may hold additional details that are likely to have been left out in much shorter guides of the sort.

As mentioned in the headline, the page also links to the Blackra1n download site, as well as to the All-iPod-&-iPhone IPSW Download Source by Felix Bruns. For iPhone 2G, “iPhone1,1_3.1.2_7D11_Custom_Restore” is available as a direct download, as are files “iPhone1,2_3.1.2_7D11_Custom_Restore” and “iPhone2,1_3.1.2_7D11_Custom_Restore,” for iPhone 3G and iPhone 3GS devices, respectively. Even iPod touch update / restore files can be obtained there (for example, “iPod2,1_3.1.2_7D11_Restore.ipsw” - second-gen device) , although it may not be legal to grab the files for free, since Apple charges for the major iPod touch software updates.

A while ago, following the release of Blackra1n by geohot, an iPhone-savvy guy screen-named emac2299 posted a video tutorial explaining how to use the jailbreak tool with a Windows computer and any iPhone or iPod touch model. Blackra1n is the first tool that can effectively jailbreak iPhone OS version 3.1.2 and it is available only for Windows at the moment.

Later, another ‘Blackra1n Guide: How to Jailbreak your iPhone, iPhone 3G/3GS and iPod Touch using Blackra1n’ became available, this time from user Phat^Trance, who takes a great deal of attention in explaining the particularities of hacking an iPhone or iPod touch using geohot’s Blackra1n.

“This video will show you how to jailbreak 3.1.2 firmware iPhone, iPhone 3G/3Gs and iPod Touch ANY generation using the Blackra1in,” he writes, adding a few notes just above the video guide. “If you continue to have problems with this just wait for Redsn0w jailbreak from the DevTeam. It will work perfectly with NO bugs,” he claims. “If your iPhone is Unlocked DO NOT do this guide, it's only for a jailbreak. Subscribe to stay tuned for my unlocking guide,” the notes also say.

“If you have problems with the program getting stuck on connect to iTunes mode (recovery mode) close the program, reboot your device by hold home and power for 20 seconds and try the program again no matter what state your device is in,” another piece of advice from the user goes. Lastly, “Some Cydia applications aren’t working at the moment. Just be patient they will update them!” the author says.

The video tutorial is available below. Unfortunately, the guide is for iPhone / iPod touch owners using Windows PCs. Still, Blackra1n is also available for Mac OS X, and it’s even easier to use on Apple’s OS.
