Be still, my heart. There’s a reason why Hollywood is so big these days (and has been for years) on British villains and that’s because, as Tom Hiddleston explains in the video below, they have a lot of things that make them stand out.

This is the latest ad for Jaguar, called simply “The Art of Villainy.” It’s part of a series that came to worldwide attention on the occasion of the Super Bowl, when the carmaker set out to show the world why British villains were so mesmerizing.

Mark Strong and Sir Ben Kingsley were also featured, alongside Tom Hiddleston. While I favored Strong back then because he seemed to have a stronger villainous onscreen presence, this new ad is making me eat my words.

Hiddleston too can be very dangerous, almost as dangerous as he is suave.

The ad also includes excerpts from Richard II’s famous “this royal throne of kings” speech, as the “Thor” actor goes through the necessary steps for a villain to be truly worthy of the name. It closes with a clear shot of a single tear swimming in Hiddleston’s eye, as he contemplates world domination.

You have to admit, you probably never thought a man on the verge of tears could be so… James Bond-esque, did you?

Enjoy!
