Jaden Smith achieved great success as a young actor in “The Pursuit of Happyness” and “Karate Kid,” but he fell out of favor with the critics and the fans with the box office bomb “After Earth.” He hasn’t done any other movie since that one but he hasn’t been wasting time either.

As it turns out, he’s been working on a music album in secret. Jaden flirted with a music career before, but somehow, news that he was coming out with a full album still managed to take Twitter by surprise.

Shortly after tweeting that he was considering dropping “Blue Ocean tonight since it can’t go on the album anyway,” Jaden released a track called “Blue Ocean V19” on SoundCloud. So, putting 2 and 2 together, I’d say that this is an outtake track.

The Internet has been having fun with it since its release, with most listeners considering it garbage and likening the song to listening to Jaden read his tweets out loud to some music.

There’s no denying that he doesn’t really cut it as a rapper. There’s really no depth to the lyrics either, which focus on Jaden’s ill-fated encounter with a girl (and her “blow dealer”) at Coachella, falling in love with her, and debating with himself whether to make his feelings known or not.

Still, the song isn’t as offensively bad as some people make it sound on Twitter. I mean, we’ve certainly heard worse and we don’t even have to look as far as Rebecca Black or Farrah Abraham. Sure, Jaden tries too hard to come across as deep and meaningful, but then again, which 16-year-old doesn’t feel the same urge to be perceived as such?

We’ve all been silly like that, maybe we should give him the chance to be too.
